Color
The diamond scale starts at D (Absolutely colorless) to Z (the start of Fancy Colors). Due to the rarity of stones in the colorless range D-F, stones within those brackets sell at a premium, especially when the color is paired with high clarity and ideal cut! The color of the diamond will never change in any circumstance unless you purposely enhance the colors yourself through a company. So need not worry about the color getting "yellower" with time! A majority of our clients purchase the near color, G-I in color. We usually recommend our clients to stay within I and higher in color just in case you may be sensitive to color. But ideally H in and higher is best!
Clarity
Another important factor for a sparkly diamond is the clarity! We usually recommend our clients to stay I1 and higher. Typically we try to sell most of our products between SI1-SI2 in clarity. The reason is because when the stone is more included, the inclusions interfere with the light reflecting off of each of the facets in the diamonds. The average consumer buys between SI1-SI2 because it is difficult to detect imperfections with the naked eye. Please note, all stones graded are under 10X magnification so a lot of the imperfection plots in the market is exaggerated. We minimal eye visible imperfections, we recommend SI1 and higher for stones that are 1ct and over and SI2 for stones 3/4cts and under. Anything thing lower will be obvious to the naked eye.
Cut
The cut is probably the most important aspect that determines the brilliance of the diamond! When all the angles are cut perfectly, that's how a diamond sparkles like we know it! We prefer to sell diamonds that are good cut and higher. But we highly recommend Very Good to Excellent. A D color and VVS2 quality diamond will NOT sparkle if it's with a poor cut diamond. That is why we believe that having ideal to premium cut is important. The cut grade scale goes like this (from lowest to highest) Poor, Fair, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
Carat
The carat, contrary to popular belief, is actually the weight of the stone, not the measurement. Measurements for stones for length x width x depth are usually done in millimeters. All stones have different densities. For example, five different stones will appear visually different in size even though the weight will be the same because some are denser than others. As a general rule of thumb, the larger the stone, the more expensive the stone is per carat.
